Best of the best. The top 10 POD services for Artists

Sunset at Gorges state park

Why I am writing this blog entry:

I am writing this blog entry based on research I performed to find the Print on demand (POD) sites to post my art, photography, and home décor works on. One thing that I learned, based on my research, is that many of the POD services utilize the same 3rd party production labs, so, in many cases, quality of your prints, clothing, and home décor will not vary based on manufacturing practices but Continue reading “Best of the best. Am I my brother’s keeper – Part 6

CONCLUSION

SUMMATION

The main theme of this passage is worship and repentance. While we have seen all the subplots anger, murder, lying, and a severing of the relationship with God, the subplots only add to the detail of the events surrounding the disobedience and sin of Cain. Even after Cain was instructed on how to fix the problem with his offering he continued to disregard it, he decided instead to give in to that anger and disappointment that welled up inside of him and he lashed out, slaying his Continue reading “Am I my brother’s keeper – Part 6”

   THE REPENTANCE OF CAIN

The second half of the scripture looks at Cain’s reaction to God and God’s reaction to Cain when faced with the issue of the slaying of Abel. Cain was indignant to God and responded “am I my brother’s keeper” this was a denial of what he had done. When we look deeper into this reaction we see a similar action with Adam toward God in the denial of wrongdoing by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, Adam tries to place blame on Eve alone. Adam committed a sin against God. Cain on the other hand also lied to God to attempt to remove the blame from him to his Continue reading “Am I my brother’s keeper – Part 5”

WORSHIP PRACTICES OF CAIN AND ABEL

Cain and Abel both had tasks assigned to them one was to cultivate the field and one was to raise flocks of animals. It appears that Cain being the oldest son inherited the curse that was cast on Adam at the time of the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Abel on the other hand was not pressed into working the ground as his brother was. There are several implications to these short verses on worship. It is implied that God had taught Adam and Eve as well as their family how to approach and worship Continue reading “Am I my brother’s keeper – Part 4”

TEXT CRITICAL NOTES

Our first text critical note comes from Genesis 4:1. Is has to do with the use of the name Yahweh “Since Exo_6:3 seems to indicate that the name Yahweh (יְהוָה, translated LORD) was first revealed to Moses (see also Exo_3:14), it is odd to see it used in quotations in Genesis by people who lived long before Moses. This problem has been resolved in various ways: (1) Source critics  propose that Exo_6:3 is part of the “P” (or priestly) Continue reading “Am I my brother’s keeper – Part 3”

Literary Context

The beginning of our text is Genesis 4:1 takes place after the expulsion from the Garden of Eden.  Adam and Eve “knew” each other and had procreated. Have both Cain and Abel. Prior to this time procreation was mentioned (Gen 1:28) but the fruit from this command had not yet come to be.  Jamieson explains “Eve said, I have gotten a man from the Lord— Continue reading “Am I my brother’s keeper – Part 2”
