            Within the scripture focus there is to responses to wisdom one is the way of the scoffer and the second is the way of the Wise. The responses have conditional rewards

Folly’s Banquet

            There is several issues to contend with when Folly’s banquet is studied. The first issue is the difficulties that Proverbs 9:13 poses for interpreters (folly’s Invitation). The second issue is the omitted additional text from the Septuagint. The final issue is the difference in understanding between the Jewish and Christian understanding of death and Sheol (folly’s consequence).

SUMMATION

            Proverbs 9 is an allusion between Wisdom and Folly. Wisdom is representative of the “voice of the Lord” (Murphy, 138). We might even go as far as to say it is God’s word, his voice, and his righteousness. Thru wisdom men are able to live a full and productive life. We grow in knowledge and wisdom by seeking after the Lord.

            The individual needs to keep in mind that just because they are seeking after the lord they are not immune to folly. One bad decision, one bad step can begin you down a road that leads away from the Lord. It is imperative that as we seek to become wise we do not allow ourselves to become complacent and allow folly into our lives.
